The Balboa I

With its ubiquitous front porches, flower and vegetable gardens, and shingle or siding exteriors, Balboa Island, California, seems to represent the quintessential seaside community. House styles reflect summer's easy living and classic cottage architecture, but have fully updated interiors. These plans are their Carolina cousins. In this series, the signature rotunda at the center of the home makes a grand statement, and the adjacent dining room provides an equally lovely setting for entertaining. A luxurious master suite occupies one side of the house, with eight-foot doors on the back that open up the view. A library and expanded loggia are enticing personal choices, as is the cozy outdoor fireplace. 2 or 3 bedrooms; 2.5 or 3.5 baths.
